Today it operates in more than 200 countries and regions, employs tens of thousands of staff, and has held a place on the Fortune Global 500 list since 2016. Midea specialises in the development of full airconditioning solutions for both residential use and professional/industrial applications. With a vast product range – from domestic Midea inverter airconditioners to advanced central coolingheating systems – it covers every need.

It operates more than 20 manufacturing plants worldwide and is among the largest producers of inverter compressors and airconditioning equipment. A dedicated division, Midea Building Technologies (MBT), established in 1999, leads innovation in professional HVAC systems. Notably, Midea built one of the first VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) units in China in 2000, marking a new era in central airconditioning systems.

Innovation in heat pumps: inverter, monoblock and ecofriendly refrigerants

Midea places special emphasis on heat pumps, utilising nextgeneration technologies that render them efficient and environmentally friendly. All modern Midea heat pumps are Inverter AllDC, capable of dynamically adjusting compressor, fan and circulator speeds according to actual room demand – resulting in maximum energy savings and a stable temperature with minimal cost.

They are available in monoblock (compact external units with all parts integrated) and split versions, with the MThermal monoblock heat pumps simplifying installation by eliminating the need for a separate indoor hydraulic station – an ideal solution when space is limited. They can be integrated with any type of heating system: lowtemperature systems like underfloor heating and fancoils, or conventional radiators in existing installations. Thus, one Midea heat pump can replace a traditional boiler, offering heating, cooling and domestic hot water from a single device.

In its product range, Midea has launched standout series. The MThermal Arctic series is designed for high performance even at very low outdoor temperatures (down to 25 °C), with energy class up to A+++. In addition, Midea leads in the adoption of new ecological refrigerants: it has already largely switched to the refrigerant R32 instead of the older R410A, reducing the carbon footprint in the event of leakage by up to 75%. R32 also offers better energy efficiency because it transfers heat more effectively than R410A.

Even more impressively, Midea is shifting to extremely environmentallyfriendly refrigerants such as R290 (propane). The new heat pump series MThermal R290 and Mars use the ecofriendly propane with a GWP of only 3 – by comparison, R32 has GWP ~675 and R410A ~2088. That means the climate impact is practically zero, making these units fully aligned with emissionsreduction goals. Moreover, the Mars R290 series incorporates EVI (Enhanced Vapor Injection) technology enabling the propane refrigerant to perform effectively even in very low ambient temperatures. That ensures high thermal output even in extreme winter conditions, delivering hot water at high temperatures when the user needs it most. MideaΆs heat pumps of these series not only offer economical and energyefficient heating/cooling, but are also “smart” – ready for the Internet of Things: controllable and adjustable remotely via an app, offering total comfort and safety in control. Altogether, MideaΆs heatpump solutions combine technological innovation with environmental responsibility, offering consumers an integrated package of heatingcooling with low running cost and minimal ecological impact.

Midea airconditioning series: domestic, professional, multisplit and VRF

In professional airconditioning, Midea provides solutions such as ceilingcassettes, ducted units, floor/ceiling airconditioners and multisplit systems. The multisplit systems allow multiple indoor units (e.g. in different rooms) to connect to a single outdoor unit, saving space and energy while providing individual temperature control per room – ideal for multiroom residences or small offices where flexibility and clean aesthetics (without many outdoor units) are required.
